Spinal Stenosis Treatment
Back Pain Relief in Tulsa
What is Spinal Stenosis?
Spinal stenosis refers to narrowing of the pathways that house the spinal cord and nerve within your spine. This narrowing can put pressure on the bundle of nerves that make up your spinal cord or nerve roots that exit the spine to serve other parts of the body. It can cause tingling, pain, numbness, muscle weakness or other more severe symptoms. The arrows below show points of pressure compressing the spinal cord of this patient.

Spinal Stenosis As We Age
Spinal stenosis is related to degeneration of the the spine. Most people that have spinal stenosis are over the age of 50, and risk factors increase as we age. However, some younger people have spinal stenosis as well.
Spinal stenosis is often caused by wear-and-tear of the bones and joints along your spine – due to osteoarthritis. This can cause bone spurs which can grow into the spinal canal. Other causes include herniated disks, thickened ligaments, tumors and spinal injuries.
Spinal Stenosis Symptoms
Without treatment of your spinal stenosis, symptoms typically get worse over time. Symptoms may include:
- Lower back pain or upper back pain
- Pain or cramping in one or both legs while standing, walking
- Weakness in your arm, leg, hand or foot
- Lower back pain while standing or walking
- Numbness or tingling in your leg or buttocks
- Numbness or tingling in your foot
- Sharp or dull neck pain
- Bladder or bowel dysfunction
Some say symptoms get worse when standing or walking and are relieved when sitting or bending forward.
Benefits of Spinal Stenosis Treatment
A discussion of your medical history and symptoms, along with a physical exam and imaging can help determine the cause of your back pain. Treatment of your spinal stenosis depends on several factors including location of nerve or spinal cord compression and the severity of symptoms.
Treatment options vary. Your doctor will help determine the best path forward to help you regain mobility, reduce back pain and alleviate other symptoms.
In addition to treatment, we recommend maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. If at all possible, avoid prolonged periods of sitting or standing in one position.

Patient Reviews & Testimonials
"Dr. Webb is very supportive and actually takes the time to listen to your problems before he comes up with the treatments you may need. Instead of just looking at the xrays and telling you what you need. And this is way more helpful and benifits the patient. I hadn't had a doctor just listen to me and then come up with a plan before and because of that I feel better than I have in a long time. I appreciate the sincere concern for my health his team always gives me."
